Please reach me at candlertherapy@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Therapy is a confidential space to discuss anything you wish too. An example of things that people wish to discuss in therapy is relationships, work and family. These can evoke emotions such as anxiety and depression that can be explored in the therapeutic relationship.
I am a member of the British Association for counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow the ethical guidelines of this association. This means I am obliged to report any acts of terrorism and money laundering.
My primary concern is for my clients, with this in mind if you disclose that you have plans to hurt yourself or someone else I may need to discuss this with someone in order to keep you and others safe. In this instance I will always speak to you about this first.
I am a member of the BACP and have private indemnity insurance. I am also registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). I have an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service certificate (DBS).
In our first session we will briefly touch on the contract prior to our session to make sure that you are happy to proceed. After this we will discuss what has brought you to therapy and what goals you would like to achieve. Please don't worry if you are not sure about these in our first session. These may only appear later on in therapy. We will regularly check in with each other in sessions to make sure that we are exploring whatever you wish to.
It is important that you feel comfortable working with me, so at the end of our first session I will check in to see how you feel and to see if you would like to book in for further sessions.
From here I like to work with longer term therapy and on a weekly basis. This however may change later in therapy and you may decide to work with me every two weeks.
How long people are in therapy is different for everyone. As we establish our therapeutic relationship this is something we can discuss and we will have a review every 6-8 weeks.
Each session lasts for 60 minutes and the cost is £50.
I believe that counselling should be available to everyone and so if you are having financial difficulties please feel free to contact me to discuss a reduced fee. This is at £40 a session.
Once you have decided to book an appointment with me I will send you the bank details to make payment. I ask for payment 24 hours prior to the session. If you need to cancel 24 hours before the session for any reason then the payment will be moved to your next session. Unfortunately, no payment will be re-imbursed if the session is cancelled within 24 hours of the session unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Yes, I welcome all students and especially counselling students. I am happy to work with counselling students from any modality, The cost for students is £40 a session.
